Hiring a medical assistant? The medical assistant is involved in both clinical and administrative tasks, therefore he/she must be detail-oriented and dependable. The medical assistant works directly under the Attending Physician with all patients as the MDs “right hand man”. As the medical assistant works with all patients, he/she should be able to multi-task and communicate quickly and efficiently with the Attending while maintaining a patient, courteous, and empathic demeanor with the patients. A physician’s office can be a busy place to work, so the medical assistant be proficient in multi-tasking and prioritizing.
