Requirements of the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant:

• Master's Degree
• New York State license
• Board Certification
• At least 1 year of experience in neurosurgery/orthopedics/spine preferred. Clinical rotations or experience as RN accepted

Responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant:

• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions/illnesses
• Prescribe medications and other treatments
• Manage patients' overall care
• Take patients' medical histories and record demographics
• Conduct physical examinations
• Complete invasive procedures
• Assist in surgical procedures
• Counsel patients on preventative care
• Explain treatment and care plans for both pre-op and post-op
• Maintains a proficient knowledge of neurosurgery
• Clinic position, no OR
